PNW Riders Rules and Guidelines

PNW Riders is your forum and your community! A community is only as good as its users. So if you see a new user that needs assistance, or someone getting unruly, please take a moment to help them out. Think of it as a neighborhood watch/town council.

No Nonsense
The management reserves the right to make judgment calls. We can't write a rule for everything. If we see nonsense on the forum we will take care of it and let you know why. This is the "no nonsense" rule.

User Names
No vulgar, obscene, profane, or hate-based user names are allowed.

Avatars and Profile Pictures
Avatars are the images under your username; these help to denote a little of your personality. Profile pictures are the images that are seen when viewing your user profile. We recognize your right to freedom of expression, and we ask that you keep your avatars and profile pictures “work safe” for the members who may be surfing in professional environments. Avatars and profile pictures are not allowed to have any nudity, death, or anything gross. Avatars and profile pictures that violate these rules will be removed by the staff. While it is not mandatory, we remind you this is a motorcycle enthusiast community, and a motorcycle-related avatar is an excellent choice.

Posting New Threads
Please post new threads in the proper section of the forum.

Save the staff the trouble of having to move your thread to the correct section. Please post your thread in the appropriate section to begin with. Additionally, do not post the same thread topic in multiple sections, and please do not post a dummy thread topic in one section that just points to another thread in a different section. It is upsetting when users post a thread topic in the correct section, but because no one looks and so another copy of the thread topic goes up in the wrong section.

Posting Guidelines
When you post, please try to be thoughtful and humorous, and explain yourself as needed. Remember that not everything is black and white when posted. Please try to use tact and moderation in your posts. Anything done in excess is subject to moderation.

We will not allow any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, racial and/or ethnic slurs; hateful content; or otherwise objectionable material.

If you have an issue with someone on the forum, take it up with them. Do not attempt in any way to pull PNW Riders into your discussions.

Staying On Topic
Please try to stick with the thread topic that is being presented. If you something to say that is not relevant to the thread topic, please start a new thread topic.

Reporting Posts
We encourage members to use the Report Post feature and submit your feedback about anything on the forum. The staff takes these comments and constructive criticism seriously, and we want to address these things the best way we can.

Attacking Users
Attack the position; please do not attack the user! You are welcome to challenge others points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully.

Users are welcome to disagree with someone’s ideas, but please refrain from attacking someone’s character. If you don’t agree with someone’s idea, state your objection to the idea and support it with an argument. Remember that people’s ideas could be wrong, but people are not wrong – there is a difference! Through this attitude, we hope to encourage a healthy and constructive atmosphere for debate and discussion that will add to the quality, content, and enjoyment of our community.

We do not allow flaming (personal attacks or blatant insulting) of fellow users.

Brand Bashing
Brand bashing will not be tolerated. There will be large penalties for users who bash or flame certain styles of bikes and/or riders. (Example: We will not tolerate a sportbike owner who trashes a cruiser owner because he rides a cruiser.)

Foul Language
Please, no foul language in thread titles. It would be ridiculous to ask everyone to eliminate the use of foul language in their discussion; this is not what we are asking. Please keep the four-letter words out of the subject lines of new threads.

Ignoring Users
If there is a user on the forum that seems to bother you to absolutely no end, then ignore the user’s posts and then you won’t have to read anything by them. It’s that easy. Please, if you don’t like what someone has to say on a continuous basis, rather than start a huge online fighting match, just ignore their posts altogether. You can then continue to use the forum, and every post by that specific user will never show up as you view the forum.

To ignore a user, go to your Control Panel, on the left column at the bottom you will see Buddy/Ignore List, and from there add the username(s) to the Ignore List and click the Update button.

Trolling
Some users enter into a thread and seem to fight every time they contribute to a discussion (often times, it’s the same users). Quit trying to provoke other users; nothing good comes out of it from either end. Provoking and attacking other users deters from the reason we came here in the first place – simply to meet up with motorcycle riders and go on motorcycle rides.

NWS means Not Work Safe
There is a sub-forum under the Off Topic section of the site, which is dedicated to the NWS content. Please keep all NWS content within this forum. Users cannot see the NWS section of the site unless they choose to add themselves to the access list.

To Join the NWS Public Access List, go to the Control Panel, on the left side menu click Group Memberships, click the Join Group radio button for NWS, and then click the Join Group button.

To Leave the NWS Public Access List, go to the Control Panel, on the left side menu click Group Memberships, click the Leave Group radio button for NWS, and then click the Leave Group button.

These specific areas are reserved for authorized Site Sponsors who are permitted to advertise on the forum. If you are interested in becoming an advertiser on PNW Riders, please click here.

Club and Organizations

If you have an event that you would like to post, it requires administrative approval – please log into the forum and post up your thread in the Thread Approvals section of the forum, and the forum staff will review your thread. If approved, we will move your thread to appropiate section on the forum. If you have questions about this, please send an email to admin at pnwriders dot com

Charities
Please do not post up new threads soliciting users for your charity or charitable event. If you have a charity or charitable event that you would like to post, it requires administrative approval – please log into the forum and post up your thread in the Thread Approvals section of the forum, and the forum staff will review your thread. If approved, we will move your thread to appropiate section on the forum. If you have questions about this, please send an email to admin at pnwriders dot com

Classifieds
The PNW Riders Classifieds is for posting private sales only. If you are listing something for sale, you must include a price with it. If you are selling a vehicle, you must include the year, make, model, mileage, in addition to the price.

Please do not comment on how someone’s price may be too high or too low. If you don’t like the price, send a private message to the person if you feel you must comment on the price. If you are interested, feel free to make an offer either via private message or in a public post. There is no need to berate, hassle, or insult anyone about their asking price. If their price does not suit you, then move on – harassing someone about a sale can only be detrimental in one’s ability to sell their product. Would you want someone to mess up your sale?

No firearms are to be bought, sold, or traded.

Please start all thread titles with FS or FT or WTB, so that others know immediately if you have something For Sale or For Trade or Want To Buy.

Please try to include pictures – it will help you and the buyer.

If your classifieds listing has been sold, please update your thread so that others know it has been sold.

The Staff
Remember, the PNW Riders Staff is made up of VOLUNTEERS! They are here, every day doing extra work, and taking on an extra burden because they want to give back to the community. They do not need intolerance or abuse. Since we feel the staff is special people giving back to the community as volunteers, flaming or attacks made against them are dealt with a little more harshly.

Be nice to the Staff – they are here for you so be there for them too!

Attacking the Staff
Please be extra courteous to the administrators and moderators; they are only human and they are trying to make the site better for everyone.

Users may disagree with the decisions or actions of the moderators and/or administrators, however, disagreements, criticism and the like are not to be aired within the forums. Please feel free to PM the person directly rather than air your dirty laundry in public.

Any abuse towards our staff and/or management will result in immediate suspension of your account.

Joining the Staff
Moderators are appointed on an “as needed” basis. All other forum jobs/titles are promoted from the existing staff.

If you are interested in joining the PNW Riders team, please send an email to: admin at pnwriders dot com
