Oh well, always looking for the bikes that will out last me ![]() |

I had to replace the valves at 44k (a design flaw on the early connie), an oil line leak, and a water pump were the only problems it had it was abused and neglected the whole time too. That's why I bought a second one, the 04 which has 27k on it now. Possibly the most underrated, under unappreciated bike ever, basically unchanged for 20 years. 06 was the last year of production. This was the old girls last ride ![]() |

I did the work myself except for the machine shop, which was $600 back in 94. I didn't exactly ride in the snow that day, that was a 60 mph surprise, notice the skid marks that end just before disaster, it would have been a different picture otherwise. I have done my time in the slippery stuff though. Last edited by Turnfour; 01-06-2008 at 11:05 AM.. |

I have been tipping in hot for about 20 years! My 1st bike was a 600 Hurricane. A Fireblade dinosuar by todays standards. My current ride is an 03' 954 double R. Love her to death. She was picked over a new 07' Repsol......I just had to have a 954 in the stable. [IMG] [/IMG]I am a regular in late spring to fall up and around Detroit. Love the drop into Estacada! Hoping to hook up on some group rides and meet some new faces! |

| Pit Crew Joined: Jan 2008 From: not here | newbie hi all, I am looking forward to some better weather, its been so cold and wet here in Portland..... I have been riding for 15+ years, dirt, street, sand dunes, bikes and atv's, whatever goes fast! I have put on 60k+ miles, on two (and quite a few on one...) wheels, but the guys I ride with are all getting old and lazy, so I need some new riding buddies, Sundays are best for my schedule, anyone game? |

| Newbie Joined: Jan 2008 From: Portland, OR I Ride: '88 Hawk GT | New to Portland, new to PNWriders.com I just discovered PNWriders.com last night but it was too late to go to the bike night in Portland. It looked like fun. I hope there will be another one soon. My bike has been in storage for a while and it's not running properly now. I've tried the obvious things, fresh gas, fresh battery, new spark plugs. I don't really have the space to work or the desire to get into the carbs. I would like to find someone with experience with older (20 year old) bikes and the problems they have. Hawk Hawk GT experience would be super. So if anyone has recommendations for a trustworthy and qualified repair shop in Portland, I could use one. I completely missed out riding last summer (my first summer in Portland) and I'm really wanting to go riding and meet some other local bike riders. Thanks! Kevin 88 Hawk GT ps. Great Forum! I really like that it's broken down to geographical areas. Last edited by NT647; 01-20-2008 at 08:20 PM.. Reason: Great Forum! |

| Newbie Joined: Jan 2008 From: Portland, OR I Ride: '88 Hawk GT | I think you have to host the pics somewhere else (like photobucket?) and include the link in your message. http://picasaweb.google.com/HawkGT20...37255463072834 Hmmm... I am not sure how to do it either. I just see the link. http://lh4.google.com/HawkGT2008/R4U...jpg?imgmax=720 OK. Do I have to be a member in good standing for some time before I can post a picture? or make a certain number of posts? I saw at the bottom it says I "...may not post attachments" under posting rules but I couldn't find any explanation. Last edited by NT647; 01-21-2008 at 10:47 AM.. | Training Wheels Joined: Nov 2007 From: Portland, OR I Ride: naked and with my hands in the pockets | You can post your pics even if you're posting for the first time. Just click the "insert image" symbol on the top of your posting body and paste the link to your pics. Be careful not to paste "http://" since the dialog bar already has it. And the link must have to be to a free hosting website, like photobucket.com. To go even further, take the link of the picture's URL given by the site, not from the address bar of your Internet Explorer. |

By the way, does anyone know somebody looking for a very nice 93 zx1100? My best buddy is selling his to get a zx14, email me at KAZ440@comcast.net if you would like to see it. here is a bad pic of it; ![]() |

| Newbie Joined: Jan 2008 From: Portland, OR I Ride: '88 Hawk GT | try again at pictures OK. I think I got it to work. With Picasaweb photos you have to edit the link a little. Photobucket gives more link options, one specifically for fora, which makes it easier. I already have photos on picasaweb though. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Kaz440 and Guts2Glory. ![]() Mt Rainier a week after buying my Hawk in 1996. Last edited by NT647; 01-21-2008 at 11:53 AM.. Reason: more effort |
