I don't post much, I'm a bit of a reclusive hermit, but I enjoy the motorcycle community here.
I will post more during the race season, recruiting for turn workers, race pictures, maybe a tale or two.
I also like to share my knowledge of riding and maintenance when I can.
I have been a turn worker for OMRRA for 20 years (hence the name Turnfour) you haven't seen a race till you see it from the front row, I encourage every one here to come out to the track and work turns. I'll start another thread as we get closer to April.
Thanks for letting me hang out.
Ed
Welcome to the site. I've probably seen you at OMRRA races, but I haven't volunteered as a turn worker yet - maybe this year.

Welcome to PNW Riders. We'll look for you at one of our group rides when you get in the area. Moving back in Sept? Why wait?! Riding season is 70% over by then. lol

Welcome,

if you get around to posting soon, I am dying to know that the bike was that lasted 150K, (and how well it lasted), I have this disturbing tendency to love bikes that last forever

upon rereading it is possible that it is a typo and you meant 15K on the kawa (meaning 15 of the 27 are yours).
Oh well, always looking for the bikes that will out last me

It is an 86 Concours, no joke or typo 150k, it took 15 years, I still have the bike.
I had to replace the valves at 44k (a design flaw on the early connie), an oil line leak, and a water pump were the only problems it had it was abused and neglected the whole time too. That's why I bought a second one, the 04 which has 27k on it now.
Possibly the most underrated, under unappreciated bike ever, basically unchanged for 20 years. 06 was the last year of production.
This was the old girls last ride

86 for sure and maybe some of 87, they didn't use hardened intake valves. http://www.concours.org/forum/topic....ms=valve,tulip
The intake valve faces would "tulip" they call it. I did the work myself except for the machine shop, which was $600 back in 94.
I didn't exactly ride in the snow that day, that was a 60 mph surprise, notice the skid marks that end just before disaster, it would have been a different picture otherwise.
I have done my time in the slippery stuff though.

another newbie...
I accidently stumbled across the site. I didnt know this group even existed! I have been tipping in hot for about 20 years! My 1st bike was a 600 Hurricane. A Fireblade dinosuar by todays standards. My current ride is an 03' 954 double R. Love her to death. She was picked over a new 07' Repsol......I just had to have a 954 in the stable.

I am a regular in late spring to fall up and around Detroit. Love the drop into Estacada! Hoping to hook up on some group rides and meet some new faces!

Welcome Ironhead and Mott - watch the Oregon-Northern forum for rides in Portland and Salem. I am from the Salem area and we get some decent rides going here. Going out Sunday with another guy as it stands.

hi all, I am looking forward to some better weather, its been so cold and wet here in Portland..... I have been riding for 15+ years, dirt, street, sand dunes, bikes and atv's, whatever goes fast! I have put on 60k+ miles, on two (and quite a few on one...) wheels, but the guys I ride with are all getting old and lazy, so I need some new riding buddies, Sundays are best for my schedule, anyone game?

just trying to figure out how to get pics on here. again, sorry.
hi again, I was just trying to figure how to put pics on here. I sold this zx12r to a buddy recently, and bought a 05 zx10r, same color, just no good pics yet.

this is my other hobby, banshees, this one has a 90hp stroker motor, anyone else ride in the sand?

New to Portland, new to PNWriders.com
I just discovered PNWriders.com last night but it was too late to go to the bike night in Portland. It looked like fun. I hope there will be another one soon.

My bike has been in storage for a while and it's not running properly now. I've tried the obvious things, fresh gas, fresh battery, new spark plugs. I don't really have the space to work or the desire to get into the carbs. I would like to find someone with experience with older (20 year old) bikes and the problems they have. Hawk Hawk GT experience would be super. So if anyone has recommendations for a trustworthy and qualified repair shop in Portland, I could use one.

I completely missed out riding last summer (my first summer in Portland) and I'm really wanting to go riding and meet some other local bike riders.

Thanks!

Kevin

ps. Great Forum! I really like that it's broken down to geographical areas.

I think you have to host the pics somewhere else (like photobucket?) and include the link in your message.

http://picasaweb.google.com/HawkGT20...37255463072834

Hmmm... I am not sure how to do it either. I just see the link.

http://lh4.google.com/HawkGT2008/R4U...jpg?imgmax=720

<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/HawkGT2008/HawkRideToMtRainier1996/photo#5153537255463072834"><img src="http://lh4.google.com/HawkGT2008/R4UK1EieNEI/AAAAAAAAAHs/O5_-TcoTHXU/s400/kevin%20ranier.jpg" /></a>

OK. Do I have to be a member in good standing for some time before I can post a picture? or make a certain number of posts?
I saw at the bottom it says I "...may not post attachments" under posting rules but I couldn't find any explanation.

You can post your pics even if you're posting for the first time. Just click the "insert image" symbol on the top of your posting body and paste the link to your pics. Be careful not to paste "http://" since the dialog bar already has it. And the link must have to be to a free hosting website, like photobucket.com. To go even further, take the link of the picture's URL given by the site, not from the address bar of your Internet Explorer.

I used photobucket, and clicked the "img" link, and pasted that to the body of the message, seems to work ok.

weather
I am looking out the window, and it seems as if it will be a beautiful day, until you realize its 32 degrees!

I want warmer weather so bad, I do have all of the cold weather gear, but I have gotten too fat to comfortably wear it all on a zx10r......

By the way, does anyone know somebody looking for a very nice 93 zx1100? My best buddy is selling his to get a zx14, email me at KAZ440@comcast.net if you would like to see it. here is a bad pic of it;

OK. I think I got it to work. With Picasaweb photos you have to edit the link a little. Photobucket gives more link options, one specifically for fora, which makes it easier. I already have photos on picasaweb though. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Kaz440 and Guts2Glory.
