Found some gold in the trash!!

We bought my '02 GSXR 1000 last August for only $500. I actually picked up on my birthday even. The people we got it from thought it was a 600 ninja, obviously not the orignal owners they got thru an eviction settlement from the original owners, bet they wish they knew what it could've been worth. It was bought new in '02 built for competition on the track (even had sponsors names painted on the side). It was raced for a season then put down on it's left side, then it got put into a shed on Widby Island and sat for five years till we found it. Unfortunately they never drained the fuel
. The fact of it being banged up was no issue since we own a auto body shop, we couldn't obviously listen too it run but took a chance on the engine.
After getting it home we had it started with in a few days but it wasn't quite right (we paint, not too great with small engine mechanics lol)
We messed with it, drove it around last season, replaced the full pump, got the injectors serviced, tryed putting in a new map for the power commander, did a por15 treatment on the tank, but it kept getting worse and worse.
Finally, after about a year of agony, missing rides cause my bike wouldn't start etc.
Nicole furious as she is waiting on her bike idoling
, we took it to the dealer. It cost $300. but some of the best money ever spent. Ended up being the Throttle Positioning Sensor and the power commander were both dead. So a new TPS and scrap the power commander, OMG hold on, the thing is a beast!
Total we are in to it for about $1500., blue books at about $7,000. and the mechanics guess it has about 200+ HP at the back wheel even without the power commander. AND NOW IT"S RAINING!!!!!!!!!!!
But i'm on it when ever I can!!!!
Anyway, hope someone can learn from my lucky but very frustrating ordeal.
