- would've been on your FJR1300 I'm guessing
8080 miles, looks like much on f'way type roads, so center wear would be key(?).

It's certainly not for everybody.

It's fair to say that my ride was a mile wide and an inch deep, but during those 8,080 miles....I saw and experienced a lot of America. I also saw some stuff I'll return to and focus on in another ride.

That and it's a lot of fun to be in Rhode Island ordering a hot dog and see the perplexed look when I say I was in L.A. 3 days earlier eating hot dogs at their competitors.

Pinks Hotdog in Hollywood on Friday, August 8th:

Olneyville Hotdog in Providence, RI on Monday, August 11th....3100 miles later:

Metzler ME-880 rear. It's like wearing a pair of wooden shoes, but the reality of these rallies are that it's far more interstate than twisty two-laners. Combined with a Pilot Road front and I'm good for 12,000+ miles.

I've done that bridge, it's a huge one - the Michigan upper peninsula has some great roads and it seems every 20 miles there's a statue of Paul Bunyan or Babe the blue ox. I talked to a local not too far from that bridge who told me that some years it's snowmobiles only for about 6 months!

Looks like an amazing ride - I won't say I'm jealous but I am impressed!

I'm leaving Tulsa in a few hours...and when I get back to Tri-Cities I should be really close to the 90,000 mile mark. Highest '05 FJR I know of and certainly in the most mileage 10 FJRs out there.

...and warranty goes out in about 2 weeks...so part of me hopes that if something is about to break it does it in the trip home...so it'll be covered.

05 FJR - Dropped Occasionally but ridden like the bitch she is. Been washed a couple times (I think it's blue). Lots of cord left on tires with easily 50 miles left. 100k gentle miles. Never seen a track day. Runs great!

Contact Iggy.

Kind of Ironic...

I was on my way home from Antelope hunting in southern Oregon yesterday(monday), and stopped at the Weatherby rest area, around 11:45am) This blue FJR pulls in, kind of thought the rider looked familiar. He went to the restroom and before I could go check to see if it was Matt, he crashed on the lawn. Checked the plate on the way out, Washington plates and Iron Butt frame, had to be him. Crashed out, now I know why. Impressive....

Ride safe, Scott.

edit: that link doesn't work but if you track back in time you will see he was right around weatherby at the time you mention. Funny!!!

Yep, that was me. I was a zombie at that point. Turns out the ride home from Tulsa was in many ways harder than the rally itself. Depart Tulsa at about 7 a.m. Sunday....ride through some nasty weather including watching a lightning strike 200 feet in front of me. I could smell ozone as I rode through the wake. Cheap out and not get a hotel room and get eaten alive by mosquitos at Utah rest stops.....it gets very hot starting Boise....and no rally points to motivate me.

I had a nice 90 minute nap in the breeze and got back home with about 2 hours to spare before a council meeting.

...I'll be back to normal....or as normal as I can be in a couple of days.

Yep, it was ironic for me as family ancestors are from that area. Grandma and Grandpa were born in Alvo and graduated from Havelock. I remember them telling stories of various towns east of Lincoln including some roadhouse in Plattsmouth during Prohibition.
