The light was yellow when I made the right hand turn onto VanBuren. I see the cop sitting there scopeing me out before I make the turn. I have a car about 10' behind me. I slow down but keep going so not to be run over by the cager behind me. I make the turn and hear the siren. Im thinking, right on get the cager for following to close. Look in the mirror and there he is. You would have thought I robbed a bank. I pull into a parking lot and the officer approaches, first words out of his mouth "was the light yellow"? I said (very nicely) yes it was officer. I gave him my papers and he went back to his car. Im thinking , he'll see that I haven't had a ticket in 17 years and that will be that. NOPE.... the AHole comes back with a ticket and I said "I can't believe that your going to me a ticket" he said have a nice day. Ill see you in court so here I go. wish me luck.... I will update tonight. |

The judge clearly stated that if you enter an intersection with a yellow light, you are still legal to cross the intersection even if it turns red while you are in it. |

I was in the cross walk when the light turned red. The video was time lapsed and I was in the cross walk 1 second after the light turned red. Tech. they are right, if you disgard the car that was behind me. The fat head judge had the nerve to tell me that he found it more dangerous for me to proceed thru a yellow light than grabbing a hand full of brake with a car behind me. This was completly a pathitic stop. $182. I read that Traffic control in Corvallis is the 4th biggest business in the City. The day I got the ticket was a day after a front page artical in the Lebanon paper said that they were going to crack down on Bikes and speeding. We are stereo typed guys and its just getting worse. They need to start paying attention to the dumb asses on 34 with a cell phone stuck to their ear while putting on their makeup instead of giving tickets for 1 second right turns. Thanks for listening. ![]() ![]() |

Although, admittedly, most cops i've seen will look at context and are pretty chill if its obvious you've been "boxed" into the intersection w no options... ***Oh btw sorry to hear about the ticket man. Talk about a great example for LEO to look at context of situation and let you off with a warning after seeing your record, or lack thereof!! |

I once prevailed on a ticket via repeating the LEOs own words. Sometimes it's that simple. Edit: To me this sounds like he shot himself in the foot. Right away none the less. Edit x2: Oh i see you already lost, and he had some type of video. Well that sucks. Yeah... gawd. Last edited by BGL; 08-15-2008 at 01:21 PM.. |

The best offense is a good defense- so drive defensively in town. That means slow down when you have a ass muncher, let them pass, always assume the light will turn yellow at the worst possible moment, etc. Here in the big city it is different - the cops for the most part do not focus on vehicle stops. |
