8/27 Bike Night @ Nighthawk Cafe' in Oakesdale
**UPDATE**
Note: If you have an updated status or have others coming with you not already on the list, please PM me or post-up so I can have a fairly accurte head count. As it stands I'm estimating at least 20, with a possibility of between 25-30 total.

**UPDATE** 8/21- I just talked to him and he will have Prime Rib available for those who want it, as well as his normal menu selections! He is VERY excited and quite appreciative of our patronage!

**UPDATE** 8/23- Plummy reminded me that last time we were there he did NOT have the ability to run debit or credit cards. He will take cash and checks (from our group) as long as you promise not to bounce them! I will call him tomorrow and see if he has since gotten a machine to run the cards...if so, I will update here. No there is NOT an ATM in town that I know of, but there is one in Garfield if you're coming up via Palouse, or one in Rosalia for those coming from the North.

**UPDATE** 8/27- Today is the day! The weather looks good...a few sprinkles this AM, but it should be partly sunny by this afternoon...perfect! I did confirm that they do NOT take credit/debit cards, but will take a check and as always...cash...so plan accordingly! I will also have the official PNW banner available to sign if you haven't already...see you there!

***ORIGINAL POST***
By design, I realize this falls on a normal "Bike Night" for Spokane and Moscow / Pullman / L-C valley peeps. That is kind of the point- so it can fit the standard schedule and we can meet up for dinner!

Bike Night @ The Nighthawk Café
108 W. Steptoe
Oakesdale, WA 99158
Sometime around 6:30-7:00PM

Click for directions!

A nice little family café with an excellent atmosphere that has been very welcoming to PNW'ers in the past. The owner and head chef, James, is a great guy who used to work for food services at WSU and knows his way around the kitchen!

Everything is prepared fresh, with the best ingredients available. That means cheeseburgers have a nice slice of real cheddar, the pies are made in house (with few exceptions), and the prime rib on Fridays has been slowly roasting since early that morning. The prices are incredibly reasonable for what you get...ask any of us who have been there!

He calls his fare "Fine dining on the palouse" with good reason!

Its only about 40 miles from either Spokane or Moscow/Pullman, so no excuses...

Pics from the first time...

Um...its august. Still, feel free to shake da' boo-tay should you feel the need.

...and where the hell are the Spokane peeps? C'mon Turtle...I'm thinking if you can make it I'll ask if prime rib can be a "special-special" for one night only...

Can't commit to coming down for that just yet. We'll have to see. It sounds like a great time! Weather will be a huge determining factor for me, as well as, whether anyone else from Spokane is going. Not sure I want to do that ride alone. I'm not very familiar with the area.

SOME of us have ridden there...in fact Wadel, Chipper6, Trauma, and I were the first to sample the hospitality of the Nighthawk! It was a chilly day, but well worth the ride.

As for not knowing the roads, just head South until you hit Rosalia, then turn left and go until you hit the next town. Pretty easy. Or use the map above...even easier!

On a related note: I don't think I've ever made a bike night in Spokane on my bike!

On a related note: Most folks in Spokane think you're a poser.

I've never made a southern bike night on anything other than a bike. One tire once, but always a bike.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I seem to make the meet-ups in the Tri-cities and even on the Westside on my bike, but I can't seem to make it to a Spokane meet on two wheels...I wonder why that is...

Working that day till 18:00 but I'll see you for dessert assuming I don't fly late. A little romp in the palouse is good to clear the head after a 12 hr shift and that pie sounds good.

I'll be working until 5:50PM and leaving from Moscow Rosauers at about 6PM if anyone wants to meet up there.

I'm thinking it would be cool for the Pullman and Moscow groups to meet up in Palouse around 6:15-6:25 and ride the rest of the way to Oakesdale. ETA would be about 6:45 if I have my times right.

Any takers?

Ouch! Who said I was bailing? Not commiting to something is a huge difference than bailing on something! AND - I can ride just fine.

I do not think it is a smart idea for a woman to ride to an area, alone, that she is not familiar with. It's simply being smart about the types of potentially dangerous situations one chooses to place oneself in. You might not think twice about traveling to an unfamiliar area. But as I am more than a rider, I'm a mom and I have more important obligations than making a random trip somewhere, without weighing the potential risks and consequences. I don't think that caution is unwarranted. Pbbbllltttttt!!!!!

Good point. A suggestion: Find another person to ride down with?

Rest assured, most of the roads off 195 are inhabited by kindly farm folks who will be more than happy to let you use their phone / help fix your bike / load it in their truck and give you a ride / do anything they can to help. You shouldn't be out of cell range anyway...and most of the people on this board would quickly come to your rescue should a problem arise...
