Thumbs up New Tires, and I F***ing love them!!!!
I just got a set of Pilot Power 2CTs, and WOW!!!! These tires don't mess around. They just beg to be thrown over in a corner. I was hitting lean angles that I didn't even think I was capable of, and I wasn't even trying. I have never been very proficient or comfortable going to the right, why? I have not a clue. After installing 180/55 17 rear and 120/60 17 front 2CTs on my '03 636, I have not one single complaint. These tires just stick to the road. I would definitely recommend these to anybody and everybody.

First, I must say that I had to steal the 2CT photo from the Michelin website as I do not have any pics of them on my bike. Second, the old tires are Dunlop D218s. The point of the old tires is the portion in the center of the tire where you can start to see it is beginning to show cords. As soon as I saw that, I had to get rid of those tires.

I got the 218s from a friend. I managed to put about 7ish thousand miles on them, but I hated them from day 1. I couldn't complain too much, they were free.

Holy Cow man, I bet you are happy

Going from a worn out D-218 Touring Tire to a PP 2ct is quite a step. Not a step to the top but a big step none the less!

Deep down ScooterRash loves Michelins

I run the 2CT's on my 10 and I really like them. Glad you are confident in the new tires you chose. From a neutral postion most of the tires today are amazing. It all comes down to personal preferance and what particular tire gives you confidence.

the bike will turn in much quicker with the Michelins due to the different profile than the D218's.

Had you gone to Pirelli's or the qualifiers you probably would have noticed the same improvement over those things.

But glad you are happy with your new tires.

I have the 2ct's as well (in a 190/55 though) and I also had a set of the older version on my 600rr...

I have to say, as much as I agree they are awesome tires, what you are so thrilled with is the fact that they are still new and haven'y been worn in the middle. I always love the first 600 miles (after the break in of course) with new tires because they just are so sharp still. Not sure if what I am saying is clear, basically once the tires get worn down in the middle they won't drop into turns as quick.

And I fully expect this to happen. I was just impressed that deep in a corner, it felt so very comfortable and confidence inspiring. I was into corners on the street like I should never have been. I like to go fast in the twisties, but at the same time I understand that I am on public roads, and for that reason I like to minimize my raciness as much as possible. It just caught me off guard when I glanced down at the ground and saw the lean angle I was puttin in.

So what would you recommend then? I had a set of Pirelli Dragon Supercorsas on my old 2001 ZX-6R (GOD rest her soul, RIP) and I really liked them, however, those were too pricey for me to get this time.

enough bragging now....let's see dem chicken strips!!!!

btw, PP's FTMFW. These tires kick ass, and it looks like I'll soon be getting a chance to try the PP2CT's for the first time....

I've noticed, though, that it's WAYYY easy to take the chicken strips off the PP's, as opposed to, say, Pirelli's. Those suckers still had like 1/2'' strips after a couple sessions at the track, and I took my PP's strips off just doing some spirited jaunts around town, nothing crazy....
Profile on the edge of the Pirelli's seems to get soo raked at the edge, it's hard to really get all the way to the edge, at least in street-riding, lol

I meant to take some pictures of both the front and rear today, but my girlfriend lost her mind this evening while we were cleaning the house. I had to deal with that as it may have limited my time on the bike. I will see what I can do to get pictures up by Thurs eve( I work nights so my days are all F'ed up).

BTW, There aren't any chicken strips on the rear, and the front has about 1/16 of an inch (give or take).

Your 2ct's will work just fine. IMO the 2ct's are a waste of money since they don't have any of the good sticky stuff where it's really needed. You can lean a touring tire such as the BTO21 all the way to the edge and drag your knee all day long. It's when you begin to stand the bike back up and twist the throttle that the rear looses traction. Pirelli apparently took that into consideration when they designed the Corsa III with a nice wide band of the sticky stuff. The 2ct gives no better traction on corner exits than does the regular PP, which is not great to begin with. PP's seem to be very sensitive to proper temperature. If you can manage the heat, they perform pretty well. Seems no one knows what the optimum temp is for these tires. I tried to milk that info from Michelin once and you'd think I was asking NASA for the fromula for rocket fuel.

The PP's as well as the PP 2ct is a good tire for the masses. They give decent traction, pretty good life for a performance tire and michelin has done a fantastic job with advertising. However, IMO the tire is way over rated. If you run them hard, they overheat and get greasy after 4 or 5 laps.

Although you see lots of guys on PP's even at the track, if you pay attention you won't see many guys running sub 40's on them.

Well, thanks for the info. As I normally just do street riding, well, I have never been on track, I think the 2cts will work fine. I do appreciate the input

Just dont heat cycle them too many times. They will bite you on the bum.

I am just sub 40 and that was all done on 2ct front, vanilla PP rear. That being said, I was definitely feeling things get a little slippery. No disrespect intended at all, but to me the 2ct definitely feels at least a little stickier than the vanilla PP. Maybe its all in my head though...

As one of the CR's at my last NESBA day said to me "you're doing great out there on a streetbike, but I wouldn't try going any faster with those tyres and those brakes."

My issue is, I do alot of commuting between my occassional trackday jaunt and I need a tyre that can do both. For me, the vanilla PP has excellent wear characteristics - until they're done, then get them the hell off your bike. The 2ct has great wear characteristics, feels grippier (to me) and is an excellent all-rounder for me. Now that I have a spare rear rim I might consider gettign a Corsa III on it to change out for the track - but being at the end of the season, mayeb next year.

So did you do a shim kit since you're running a different size rear than stock? Or are you riding it with the slightly fuxored geometry?

OK OK OK. Here are the pictures of the 2CTs on my bike. The rear has about 150 miles more than the front due to Hillsboro Moto needing to order the front.

Rear

Front

And for comparison, D208 with 7500 miles (Rear):
