One individual who is obaying posted speed limits and looking out for safety is targeted strictly because he is on a sport bike. But how many "soccer moms" so you see rolling down the road in SUV's talking on the phone, holding their latte's while speeding? It is obvious that bikes are being targeted because the bike "looks" fast. Personally as a rider, I think we should be knowledgeable of this issue as it EFFECTS ALL OF US!

I got one 3 years ago by washington County and it cost me about $200. You're lucky... end of story.

your questioning is correct . after closer observation of very poor handwriting it appears to $124.00 or $142.00 the ticket is extremely difficult to make out.

To the OP, I can see why you're upset as I would be too. Take it to court and make sure you and/or your attorney are well prepared so that you win it.

Yeah... isn't it funny how they never show the ones who get away?

Sounds like typical oink-ism.

Get a lawyer, I hope you win.

you saw the cop get on?

you changed lanes because everyone was slowing down. so either, you had time to slow down but didn't want to, because you were being impatient. or, you weren't paying attention and had to swerve to avoid the slowing car. either way, you should have been smarter while riding. cops target bikes. they're going to do whatever they can to get you...you just gave him a reason.

oh, and it is only legal to wait to pull over if you turn on your emergency flasher and call 911 to verify the vehicle behind you is in fact a cop. in the middle of the day or on a free way...i dont think someone would pull that stunt. if its a dark back road in the middle of the night, i'd probably call to confirm. and, in that situation, they'd probably arrest you and it would be straightened out later...

Hmm...profiling sportriders.

Glad i am riding this POS. I don't think they see me as a threat.

I guess the smart thing to do is get rid of plastic fantastic and ride an 80s bike that doesn't trigger the "hunt" response. Remember to lower your head and back away slowly. Do not show aggression.

Although i've been followed a time or two, but they usually fall asleep when I am aware of the game and veer off somewhere else or pass.

That's why I love my bike! It wouldn't be worth it to even impound the darn thing.

Pretty sure he stated that he changed lanes going the speed limit there dude..also we have covered what is legal and what is not (and you are wrong BTW). But in the case that (in my humble opinion) a cop tries to pull you over in an unsafe area on the freeway, I too would find the nearest safe area. Sorry but my life is more important than what he "feels" is safe. Stop talking trash dude.

This is the internet, not a court of law. There is no innocent until proven guilty.

His story has holes in it.

The only ticket i've ever gotton on the bike was a 'following too close' last year on 101.

Who was i apparently following too close?

Probably the largest legal sized RV allowed on the road. Yeah.. that's cuz i was planning on passing it.. imagine that...

Where was the LEO that pulled me over claiming i'm following too close? - Going the opposite direction (oncoming) down 101.

He was an asshole about it too.

I didn't say anything but it was like, as if this thing can stop anywhere near as quickly or in the distance i can. Frankly he could hammer his brakes all day long and i could continue on w/one eye open, one hand on the bars, sipping on starbucks and be completely unfazed.

I called an attorney i know, they said the Jefferson county judge gives a rip and i'd lose regardless or anything & they stopped practicing there.

Paid it.

Huh. I had a cop radar me on a street I ride down to and from work yesterday. I knew I was going over the limit (even given the "fudge factor" that the bike speedometers tend to have), and he dropped his radar gun, smiled and waved as I rode by. Didn't pull me over, didn't shake a finger at me, didn't even give me the "slow down" wave. Just waved, smiled and raised the radar gun up to point behind me back at the top of the hill.

Maybe he can talk to the guy who pulled you over and settle him down a bit?

How many people are going to brown nose the cops!!! I used to work as a Reserve Police Officer and I had people, because of construction, pull past it and into a safer location!! No, I never thought they were trying to run!! If he would have sped up quickly, then yeah, the cop might think he was trying to evade. But if he just continued at the same rate of speed and pulled off onto the exit, then I don't see why the cop thought he was running!! I think he was just bored and decided to F**! with a biker! It's sad to say, but there are alot of these cops out there. I say fight it, and explain the situation, if you get a good judge, he/she will be able to tell that the cop was wrong. There is no justification for why he did that to you!! Just my 2 cents......

Oh and on the where to pull over note, call me a fool but i don't give a fuck what the literal law says, i pull over where its safe.

Also though: i've somewhat went out of my way a couple times to stop somewhere safe. If it will 'take a minute' i put my flashers on and whatnot. I've never had a problem w/a cop regarding this. Not sure why any cop would have a problem with it. It's in everyones best interest.

Of course, best interest != the law as we know.

It's not even a criminal court so there is no presumption of innocence. It's just based on a proponderance of the evidence. You are in fact guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent, very unamerican, but ultimately it's only $142 so not a big deal.

Do what you need to do. By pointing ahead I would think that the cops could understand that. But of course they dont cause they are not as bright as us right?

Simple facts---the officer who wrote you the ticket didn't witness the infraction?

If so then you can have the ticket dismissed easily.....

That is all.....
