My new supermoto and review
I got a new 2008 Husqvarna SM 610

Now for my review of it...

My riding background to give a little perspective on where I came from. I learned on dirt bikes and quads as a teenager and rode those for about 10 years. Never raced just ripped the trails and local tracks at the parks in Northern Cali.
Moved to Oregon and started riding a BMC chopper and harleys for a year. Those bikes are not my thing, I'll leave it at that.
Then switched to a new VFR in 2004 and rode that until I got this new Husky. I have ridden other peoples sport bikes and such but High Speed just wasn't something I liked. I never really felt 100% comfortable on any bike I had compared to my dirt bikes. I took the Team Oregon beginner class and Advanced Classes to get skilled but just never really enjoyed street riding like dirt riding UNTIL NOW!

It all started borrowing a relatives Hypermotard and the rest is history. The new Husky is the Funnest bike I've ridden. I never really ride the freeway just rip the backroads and commute to work. The first time out on the bike was refreshing and really comfortable compared to all the other bikes I've ridden. I was jammin on this thing right out of the gate. No learning curve for me. I was taking corners way faster and more confident then ever and leaving all the people I ride with in the dust. I find myself wanting to ride more and just getting lost on purpose now. I've hit a couple gravel roads NO PROBLEM. If you can imagine riding your dirt bike on the street that is basically it. I don't see myself getting a sportbike or cruiser ever again. For those wondering if they should get a supermoto..... DO IT just know it doesn't do very well over 70mph comfortably compared to other bikes. Who cares I have much more fun under 70mph anyway. Enough with the review here are the pics. So far new mirrors, blinkerectomy, fenderectomy. New grips, sliders and exhaust on the way.

Good review! I gotta get me one of those someday! But with that thing, I don't think staying under 70 mph will keep me outta trouble!

I kinda like not having hand guards. Besides protecting the bars if you crash and maybe the occasional roster tail rock protection, why else do you have them? I never ran any hand guards on my MX bikes and was fine. I do love mods and this bike is not easy to find mods for. I do like what this guy did with the hypermotard guards.

I'd love to have one for a second bike. Rippin the back roads, riding in the rain whatever it looks like too much fun!

Nice review, I like my acerbis hand guards on the transalp on those cold mornings, and every now and then some gravel or other road debris pings off them.

Those mirrors...who makes them? Are they stock?

Also look for the movie called "Get Lost: Oregon". You can order it from TouraTech. One of the riders had your bike but with dirt wheels. A good way to dual-use your bike!

they protect the bars yes. but it's the lever's that they really protect. dropping the motard on the street is not like the dirt. my wife was riding the bike before i had guards and broke the clutch lever dropping it. literally dropping it. no real speed involved. if you're remote it's going to be a nice walk or a shitty ride back if you happen to loose some controls. also... again about it not being dirt. go check out supermotojunkie.com and look in the washington racing section. there's a really good picture from a year or so back where a racer came up to ride pats acres and was riding a borrowed bike with no hand guards. he wrecked and the end of the handle bar nearly split his finger in two. they talked about that being another reason to get hand guards. sold me.

The mirrors are made by (Advanced Performance Accessories dot com) The stock mirrors were like a pair of antlers. I hated them and being out in the back roads with them I was afraid of getting shot at by the hunters.

Never thought about being stranded. I am not the type that would enjoy that one bit. supermotojunkie is where i've been lurking so I'll check out washington racing section for some hand guard motivation especially now that I have no chicken strips which I never thought possible for me. Removed the passenger pegs and fork reflectors last night. This thing is looking wicked. My father rides the Hyper and last night he came over and just couldn't get enough of the Husky and he was amazed how fast you could go on it. He's now on his way to picking up the new WR250x for a second bike to rip on since we all know the Duc is in the shop alot. These sumos are freaking awesome.

i never thought about it either and wouldn't have given it a second though till the wife broke the damn thing. i gought a cheap pair for the first set and didn't really understand why i needed to pay nearly double to get a good pair. the first set i had attached to the handlebars and after putting them on i realized quickly why the people who know told me to pay a bit more and get the ones that attach to the triple tree so the guards don't rotate. earlier in the year we were on a ride where i guy went off and his hand twisted and actually took out the brake resevoir. we were lucky because it just detached the hose and the resevoir tipped upside down so it didn't lose fluid and we were able to get it back together and bled in order to limp home.

Funny thing is these are addictive.... Just don't try one and you don't know what you're missing.... My dad is on his way to pick up his new 2008 Husqvarna 250 supermoto in Salem this week.
