****UPDATE****
I am heading down with the family to Eugene to stay the long weekend with my mom.

However, the best wife in the whole world suggested that I ride down. She would follow me or just meet me there, my choice. Also, she said she was going to bring her gear along to try to squeeze a ride in down there!

So, I should be getting off work and be available about 5:00 p.m. just need to be in Eugene at a reasonable time i.e. before 8:00.

-R

p.s. any recommended Eugene area rides?

p.s.s Jim, I am always interested in potential career opportunities

lol We always have room for more retirees!

If you are getting off work Friday and want to meet at 5 it won't happen most likely. We are going out Friday morning.

There is a nice road that goes down towards Cottage Grove from W. Eugene. Get to 11th and Green Hill Rd. and go down Territorial to Ham Rd to Creswell to Cottage grove to Territorial and Back. Google it.

Have Fun

jim

ATTN Salem Riders

We usually get some people who don't log in and show up at Circle K. I won't be starting from there today; instead, I am meeting Sndslgr at St. Paul. I will be leaving Independence at 10 and will go to I5 and turn off at Brooks to head over to St. Paul, probably around 10:20 or so.

Yeah it was great - glad you made it - and the only LEO was snoozing. For the unknowing - a bolt fell out of my front brake mount and Ace Hardware Yamaha parts dept. saved the day. Feels funny when you pull on the front brake and the lever goes all the way to the bar. I must not have tightened it when I mounted the hand guards. Travis was very patient with me.

So I have been working way too much lately and haven't even had time to post. Long Story...So have our standing rides changed (I know, I'm probably missing one right now.) Are they still on Wednesdays? Saturdays? ....It is sunny! I need to get my bike out and wash it to ride it!

As far as I know there is no standing ride yet. It can't be Wed. night because Mosser has priors. I am open to whatever. We need to start the ride somewhere like a Pizza place in case only one guy shows up. Otherwise we can set it up here, which means it isn't a standing ride.

If you want to ride tomorrow (Sunday) I can go. Anyone else?

Ok. Other than Wednesdays is good because wife has meetings that night and I have kids. I am up for tomorrow. Want to do something local or run up and join the Portland ride.

You can call or msg me at 503-559-7611.

Ride report - short ride Sunday - NOT!
Well we got our act together at Lincoln and headed to Willamina planning to go up to Bible Creek Rd and in to Hebo and home 22. Here we are all warm and fuzzy halfway to Bible Cr. RD. It was my neighbor Ronnie on his F650, CopperSV1 on his Subzuki (work best underwater - lol), and my FZ1.

And look at the beautiful country and road.

Who would think it could go to this in 5 miles......

So back down the hill we went....and toward Valley Junction and up to Hebo.

Now this was supposed to be 130-140 miles, starting at 11 in the morning. Well we ran into Hawnduh and Transported on the west end of 22, and stretched it into 258 miles! But what a blast! All of us were decent enough riders to rail the corners and not get lost, and did so. I drag raced CopperSV1 ( I think he was racing) and got 136 on the GPS max spd. Each time I ride this it seems to get faster. Just before I let off, the front wheel came off the ground - cool!

Thanks for the ride guys.

Jim

PS - Mosser - got your message and we will definitely get together soon.

Sounds like a lot of fun... to bad I missed out. Although I did through my friend that was visiting on the back of the bike and went to the Wooden Nickel (yum). We took 22 out and back roads into town. I think I might have scared her on the 30 mile/hour turn at 50 or so (which is kinda slow by my expectations) but couldn't help but throttling it up. She had fun... I was happy to be out riding...

Jim, when you mentioned snow, I pictured in my mind little patches here and there, not snow-plow worthy. Yous is insane!

What's amazing to me is that you actually rode it in that far. I'd have turned around as soon as I saw the white stuff.

Once a dirt biker, always a dirt biker, I guess.

I thought later we should have had that jeep tow us until we got out of the snow.....but I didn't bring enough rope. Here's the ones Ron took with his phone (BTW - he is lurking out there now; I got him hooked up with PNWR. Great addition to the group.)

Thanks for calling Matt. I had a great time but you were right about the chili dog.

It was nice to get in a couple hundred miles and no snow, but for a while there I thought it was going to snow......brrrrr!

According to my financial adviser and general sweetcheeks I won't be riding 'til next Thursday anyway......unless I find an alternate financial source. Something to do with hobbies and income vs outgo.

WTF is Waca? Am I that out of it?

Wish I could have gone today - you caught me on one of the rare days I can't say "I'm going riding."
