My favorite pizza place is Bison Creek in Burien. Very good pizza, price is decent, and they have an excellent beer selection. They'll even fill a growler up if you need a gallon of 'to-go' beer. Can't beat that, IMO. (Being in stumbling distance of home is a bonus for me too.)

Wow... I wasn't even going to go there, but those dawgs... kinda like the whiney little sister you never wanted. Are you saying I should borrow my buddies Washington plates so I can blend in better? Thanks for the compliment on the Kawi though, I kinda like it!

Can't wait to get up there. Been craving pizza all week!

My picks:

#1 "The Rock" by a landslide! (locations in lynnwood, tacoma and lake tapps)- order the "sheer heart attack"

#2 Pegasus on Alki - order the house special I think. It use to be called Toms special

#3 Pagliacci - I think the pie I like there is called the "agog"

OOPS.. Edit: forgot North Lake tavern!! that belongs in the #2 slot. the rock is better IMO

my $.02

Bison creek rocks! I think what makes their pizza so great is their sauces. Their garlic or pesto sauces are a truely unique flavor for pizza. If this place was located like in Seattle, they would probably win best pizza in Seattle. But being located in Burien, not many people will get the opportunity to try Bison Creek.

I consider Pagliacci the best among the chain pizza restaurants. They don't have to cover their food with grease in order to make it tasty.

A New York Pizza Place in Maple Leaf (5th Avenue NE around 83rd or so) does a decent job. It was a little better before the original owner (Todd Peltz) moved to Blaine (or it might have just been his personality), but it's still a decent pizza and the new owner has done a good job of bringing the quality back up after a little stumble right after the transition.

I get a lot of crap from some people for this one, but I've always found the pizza at the Italian Spaghetti House on Lake City Way to be about the closest in the area to what I grew up with in NY. Good, thin crispy crust, all done up in a brick oven. Sauce is OK. Definitely a change from the thick, greasy Greek-style that's more often found around here. The rest of the food is OK - standard 1950's style 'Italian' fare, and the place looks like it hasn't been redecorated since they opened 50 years ago.

(I've been told that the pizza at Buco di Beppo next to Ducati Seattle is also pretty good, but we always wind up getting a lot of other stuff when we go there. The ones we've seen going part our table always LOOK good, though!)

I may have to trust you on these SeattleVet and try some. I think you and I have discussed pizza to some degree in the past.
I look forward to trying Italian Spaghetti House to see whats up with the crust.

Well... only because it's too expensive to ship Giordano's or Little Villa from Chi-town...
Booo Patrick. Boooo. And I lived in Chicago while in law school so I am very familiar with their "pizza". I can't bad mouth Chicago's pies too much but definitely inferior to NY/NJ pizza - no comparison. I like Sicilian pie but not as crazy about the Chicago style. I'm guilty of sending my parents a Lou Malnottis frozen pie a while ago.

Go to the Capitol Hill location...I like that one better than the Queen Anne location.

Is this place on the corner? Possibly of Broadway? I remember going out to lunch at a place that sold decent slices in Capitol Hill.

If anyone is looking for a decent sub (maybe meatball parm?) or a porkroll sandwich try Kates Jersey Subs over the Minet (sp?) Bridge in W. Bremerton. Subs and sandwiches are delicious although somewhat pricey for the large ones.

Had Pegasus last night while I was in Seattle... good stuff. Will try the other places on subsequent visits!

Alki beach is a pretty nice place!

Only almost got run off the road once just south of Federal Way (#@$&% SUV), other than that, the ride was HOT going up from Eugene and nice going back today.

I like Zeeks as well as Pagglacci but Amante's blows them away IMHO.

The closest to proper NY style I've found is Piecora's in Capitol Hill. The best brick oven slices I've tasted were from Via Tribunali.

SeattleVet, I'm going to try the Italian Spaghetti House on your recommendation. I hope to have the same reaction you did.

But seriously, regarding the best slices in the greater Seattle area... They're square, come from L&B Spumoni Gardens, & are sitting in my freezer wrapped with care.

Via Tribunali for the win definitely. They've got Peroni on tap to go with it too which is absolutely amazing beer.

They're supposed to be opening up a Via Tribunali down in Georgetown behind the building where Smartypants and 9lb Hammer are. There's a neon pizza sign back there, but I haven't gone around back to see if it's open yet.

Ciao!

Not sure if its still there, but there used to ba a place in the U district called Atlantic Street Pizza and it was the best I've had. 5 different sauces to choose from, I like extra spicy/extra garlic! A medium weighed about 5lbs! The pepperoni was sliced a 1/4" thick!

Talarico's supposedly has a new manager, and I have not been hearing good things about the service recently.

Their pizza is huge (when they say a 19" slice, they don't mean it's cut from a 19" pizza). Good Happy Hour deal. Decent sauce, crust was a little 'doughy' for me, but overall I enjoyed it.
