Age before youth my friend. Experience FTW once again! lol

I'll gladly take you on with my zx14 in the tight and twisties, if for no other reason than laughs. Just don't be putting money down on your guaranteed win just yet.

A KLR 650 hmm. I assume you did the suspension replacement, pipe and rejet? Or is there a bore n stroke in there? Just curious why you would go without a dedicated street bike...

Are you not the ZX-14 that Trail Boss was referring to blowing by on the Monkey Butt ride?

I wouldn't be riding the KLR, it's my commuter bike. Did you miss the other bikes in my list? The DRZ400-SM would be the one humbling you.

And I'll be the one laughing.

Nope, that was Lacker 14 and his buddy. They aren't into cornering... I was the guy zipping back and forth between the groups, letting them catch up and them pasting them. I stayed in pack for half the ride but couldn't restrain myself any more and took off.

If you are doubting my abilities in the slower stuff, just ask Krukov. Or Joplin. Or the guy with the new Aprillia Factory (forgot his name, but here's a photo of my ride with him)

Man if this thread was a date, we'd all be in jail for date raping it! Oh well...

I will still take you up on a fun ride against your 400 though. After a familiarization ride together we can do a timed run for shits an giggles. Can you imagine if we had data loggers? Talk about different speed data! MotoGP data guys have nightmares about scenarios like that I bet. lol

It's all about fluidity Eric. NOT about the specifics metrics of touching a knee slider, scraping a peg, etc... Just concentrate on making that bike an extension of yourself and then making each corner simply a means to an end, not the end result. The biggest mistake you can make is focusing too much on a given corner, because when ridden correctly the most attention given to any particular corner is when you are approaching it and setting up your line and braking/entry speed points. By the time you are leaning, only part of your attention should be on the corner itself. Even when you burn in too hot and gotta adjust your line or scrub off speed on your front tire (normally not done by braking, you just let up on the throttle which will tighten your turn).

My personal experience has shown that even when a corner is shot, pucker factor in effect the worst thing you can do is put all your concentration on that corner. Inevitably you will find yourself looking down when you should be looking ahead, which ruins your line even more- and can put you in the ditch.

You must keep the imaginary "line" thru the corner in your mind and keep it there, and when you line is lost instead of giving up on the concept you merely adjust it to meet the new reality: whether its a car cutting into your right of way, a big rock in the road, or a declining blind radius corner you have to mentally rearrange that line in your head and force your bike to hold it. And that line should be all the way thru the corner and into the next straight. Do not "think" about what you physically have to do to make the corner, your body will automatically do what it needs to make the bike get there. Trust yourself, and above all trust your bike to be better than you! Done properly, the only reason you should ever run off the road is because your tires couldn't hold there end of the bargain. Period. And most tires are alot more capable than people give them credit for.

Noob and coach ride n BBQ sunday the 31st. Just a quick ride from Snohomish to Sultan and back, 2 hour ride and then back to my house for a BBQ. Bring the wifes/ girlfriends and drop them off with my wife.

She's a perfect hostess who can and will make friends out of all of them. She has a knack with being every ladies best friend, 6 yrs old to 60 so don't let your significant other back out with the "I don't know any of them". No matter how ornery or shy she is, by the time we get back from the ride they will be best friends. My wife is kinda like the Borg in Star Trek.

There is a few spots on the route that I plan on stopping and re-running with the novice guys so they can work on technique and lines. No big deal, this is a get-to-know each other ride but it's also where the coaches that show up can be utilized to eval them. Not to mention take some pics of them cornering. PM me or post up here.

Here is the route, starting and ending at my house next to hwy 9 in Snohomish:
It's going to be starting in City of Snohomish: east Old Snohomish Monroe rd - south hwy 203 - Ben Howard rd down n back into Monroe. Stop and BS somewhere then North out of Monroe via Woods Creek rd - north Lake Roesiger rd - west on N. Carpenter rd.- south on S. Machias rd - west New Bunk Foss rd - south on hwy 9 to my house.

Time and place are still up in the air. I'm figuring 10am, but could change if I have to work. If I work, it might end up being a saturday ride bbq at 2pm'ish. Won't know about work until next week.
