Vet-Newb Coaching Washington
"So, if you are a veteran rider (you know who you are) and you'd like to donate some of your time for the benefit of our newer riders, PM me and I'll add your name to the list of mentors. I ask for PMs because I'd like to gather some basic information from you, such as location, availability for rides, experience, type of riding (sport, touring, cruiser), etc.

Once the names are posted in this thread, then new riders can contact ride leaders on their own. Ride leaders will decide whom and how many they wish to instruct.

This relationship can last as short or as long as the teams wish them to, and ride leaders are welcome to take on one newb or a dozen. But, the ideal is for a 1-on-1 pairing for maximum instruction.

Also, neither vet nor newb assumes any liability for what is taught or for how it is played out during the rides. Everyone assumes their own liability in this inherently dangerous activity.

Please note: If I've got any of the details on your profile wrong, please contact me for changes. Thanks!" **

Are you talking about El Dorado Hills area or Folsom area? If so, I've been to both. I rode Salmon Falls a lot which is pretty crazy. The first time I was out there I almost shit myself on a decreasing radius turn, 1000+ ft. drop off with no curb or shoulder. I also rode Lake Berryessa whenever I wasn't at the Falls.

You lived in Sactown? Whereabouts?

Man, I told you already! OK to be exact: Parkvale Way on the curve mere feet from 80 in Citrus Heights, then on a farm (yes, it was actually a farm. In Sacramento. Seriously.) in Elk Grove, corner of Bruceville Rd. and Poppy Ridge Rd.

I had a friend toss his brand new CBR1000 off one of those outer corners way the fuc% up there. No guardrails, he hit a water runoff and slid out. He ended up halfway on the shoulder and half off in midair, his bike is still in the river below. Man how I tried to figure out a way to get that bike out for myself!!!! lol 16 yrs old and broke riding a 250 Ninja at the time.

We rode way up past Folsom. Not sure exactly anymore, but it was 100 miles or so from Citrus Heights on back roads to get there. An hour of 100mph+ country road blasting just to get to the hills. El Dorado Hills rings a bell. Is there an El Dorado Rd, too?

Yeah, I liked the old thread too. But it was no longer being updated. So, I re-posted so the info would stay updated.

BTW, Kresto and RideSlow2004 have been added.

Lets do this "Contender" style. In 3 months time we each pick one of our recruits to duke it out on the Pacific Raceways course. $200 to the fastest after 20 laps!

Any times within a couple seconds and the coaches have to do a 3 lap run-off. heh heh any takers?

I on the other hand am still here and would love if someone gave me a lesson with knee dragging. I was practicing at some roundabout and touched the pavement a few times but i'd like somebody who knows how to do it to watch me and tell me if i'm doing it right. I can't touch the pavement on the roads....maybe i'm not going fast enough. Help?!?

location: mukilteo
style: sport
level: 6000mi second bike newbintermidiate?
availability: pretty much any time.

Guys dont forget the needed info: where you live, times available (u work weekends? first shift?) how far you would be willing to travel, and what you ride I think are the minimums.

As far as knee dragging: Its the equivelant of getting rid of your chicken stripes: every experienced rider can do it, but its by far not a measure of how good a rider you are. I for one haven't dragged a knee in 19 years. No knee slider and I always remember last time when I hit a sharp granite rock and tore my knee up.

I've seen alot of guys drag a knee by artificially sticking it out there as far as possible, to the point they werent even near close to full lean on there bike. Kinda like wheelying: something that only people who cant do it think its difficult or "cool".

Sorry bout the small rant, its just one of my pet peeves. Akin to a hopped up Honda Civic beating a 250 Ninja and bragging about being able to take out sport bikes...

Goremore, PM sent lets ride today or sunday?
