Did everyone make it back from Fossil runs today? http://www.oregonlive.com/clackamascounty/index.ssf/2012/06/post_79.html My husband was a responder, says the rider was on a yamaha.
This is a good example of why you should always ride with others, and ride within your limits. There is no cellular coverage out there, and it can literally be hours before police or rescue can get to you.
Man there were some super squiddly dudes in tank tops and jeans at ripplebrook on Saturday talking about how they just did 'a buck fifty' on their brand new literbikes and were looking to do more. I wouldnt be surprised if it was one of them yesterday..
Sad to hear about this. I think that 25 miles east of Estacada is around that right-hand turn that has a couple campgrounds, a small bridge, and the intersection for forest road 57. It is just east of the Ripplebrook Ranger Station. The corner is a deceptively tight turn, there is usually gravel in the road, and more traffic than other areas.
There were others on scene by the time he got there, including a cop or two. He mentioned another rider, maybe a cruiser rider, as well as the victim's friend and some others. He said there was not much that could have been done, the trauma was just too extensive. He did say it was the corner by the ranger station, tricky right hander.
Why I asked is that my girlfriend mentioned that her manager came across a motorcycle accident outside Estacada. He was an ER nurse for a long time before being a manager of her med surge unit. He tried assisting the rider, but there was nothing he could have done. Said it was the worst thing that he ever saw.
really sad story. even more so when there are people there to help and nothing can be donr. rip rider
Just did that corner for the first time last weekend, but fortunately I was following someone who knew it well. It is tricky, but it also pays to slow down around ranger stations. RIP rider.
