They're out to get us

Glad you're OK. Those close calls scare the @#%%# out of me. They are reminders that we need to be alert and hyper-aware of our surroundings.

 

there are way too many close calls or accidents this summer. too many guys getting ran off the road. its almost not worth riding on the streets in this area anymore. i know i toned down my riding A LOT and i rarely take my bike out.

 

I have been riding for 29 years now. It has always been this way, and I expect it will never change. Stay alert, ride defensively, and practice collision avoidance maneuvers regularly. Your other option is to go back to a nice padded steel box, and when you do; please remember not to do those same boneheaded things to those of us that still ride.

I rode through Tacoma last night and there was an accident in the south bound lanes that involved one of those trikes.

 

i'd like so much to blindly side with your they're out to get us campaign but i'd need some additional info first plz.

1. what lane were you in when the truck passed you?
2. why were you following the old guy so close that you were not able to make use of the other half of 'your' lane and go around?

 

The fact is you can only expect the people on the road with you to do the unexpected. Always leave cushion and manuever room around you when you can. Been riding on streets for 30 years and have had plenty of close calls by inattentive drivers. If that makes you want to stop riding then you should probably not drive a car either as close calls happen whether you are behing the bars or the wheel. My advice eyes open and head on swivel.

if the cock bite passed you on the right in the right lane that was a super douche move. i probably would have followed him and had a chat about it.

the way i read the second one it doesn't sound like he cut you off since he was in front of you right? that said yes i'd blame myself if someone does stupid shit in front of me and i am unable to stop or get around them. i also would always opt for the go around them if possible option to avoid being ass packed by who ever is behind me because these days its highly likely its a dumb girl driving too fast while txt'ing her bff.

some version of this seems to happen to me almost every time i ride. its part of the game imho. good deal not ending up on the ground but like taznhell said get used to it and learn to anticipate this sort of stuff and it won't be such a big deal.

Expect the unexpected always.My buddy fot hit monday evening by an asshat turning in the last moment.Luckily it was a 35mph, his bike is totalled and he has a broken foot.

 

When the sun comes out, so do the idiots. I swear I see more drivers driving horribly during the summer than in the winter...

 

Dont sweat it. Some people will take the opposite side of ANY opinion or fact, just to argue.

There ARE a lot of dangerous drivers out there. The cages just seem more so because you are vulnerable on 2 wheels.

Ride safe, allow for lots of room between you and others and assume that noone knows you're there.

 

I had one yesterday where a lady just turned into my lane and stoped half way into the turn.
