2009 Hypermotard or 2008 CBR1000rr

Discussion in 'Motorcycle Talk' started by Wyckedan, Apr 28, 2010.

  1. Found out today the damage to my CBR was WAY over cost of the bike ($11,200 without labor), which is great! However I've been having difficulties deciding if I want another CBR or not. Don't know how much the buy back price is gonna be to make it a track bike, but the way I figure it, anything over $1500 is too much. I really love sportbikes, but DAMN those Hypermotards are so much fun. I ride around town and out on decent rides pretty much split 50/50, and obviously the Motard would be better for city, but on them country roads, the sportbike just eats up the asphalt. So, what do you guys think. Oh, and I found a replacement CBR1000rr (08 with 3000 miles) for $8000 plus tax, and the Hyper would be considerably more (ranging from $12,000 to $15,000 depending on model)

If you can afford the shitty gas mileage, go with the Hyper. Or better yet, get a supermoto.

  4. you're gonna regret not having that '08 1000rr...sweetest bike

  5. Damn Dude, I just saw this thread and I was like wtf? I had to go back and check your other thread to see what happened to the brand new cbr. Glad you are ok.

  13. Buy a Motard.
    Learn to ride it.
Piss off all your sportbike friends till they won't ride with you any more.
    Priceless

Gave up my R1 a year and a half ago. No regrets

  14. The Hyper is deathy cool....I really want to ride one. The tank range is horrid, but I guess that there's after market that can help that. No fairings.... I see it as more of a second bike. (depends upon your ride groove.)

Only bike, for all day rides, might be tough.

  15. Hypermotard or KTM for sure. You need some variety, who wants the same old crap day in and day out?

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/mcy/1708930796.html ($4200 "firm")

Total: $11500 (Less than a base model Hypermotard, new)

You can have both, even though the CBR is an '06 (with 1600 miles!!). And those Husky's are very capable motards.

FWIW, I've ridden the KTM 950SM and the Hypermotard, they are both very fun bikes, but not really "supermoto's" They are styled after them, but not nearly as light. The DRZ is also very capable, and about as reliable as a Honda, so don't count that out in your search either.

  17. that husky is sexy.. but unless your really good at daily oil changes, its a race only bike.

Even the 510 eats oil.. you could always add an oil cooler.. but those bikes are high strung and aren't meant to hammer out hundreds of miles.. (the 610 has a normal 3k service schedule)

On the other hand.. they ARE meant to rip the fucking heart out of 10's of miles.

I think you answer your own question. More fun, more comfortable, and how often do you need to go 160mph?

  19. Screw it man. Get one of those BEE EM WOBBLIES!

    Then let me ride it.
