  1. Newbie member Griskins here. (Maternal grandfather from Belfast gave me the nickname. Don't know why.
Considered by some dictionaries to derive from grice +‎ -kin. Compare Irish gríscín.

    griskin (plural griskins)

    1. A lean cut of meat from the loin of a pig.
    2. (rare) The bones, particularly the spine, of a pig.)
Riding since 1970. Owned bikes since 75 including 71 Triumph Tiger, 2000 Triumph Sprint, Wee-Strom. Currently on a tour equipped FJ 09, riding exclusively one-up- wife's a fraidy cat. Co-own Snoqualmie Falls Brewery and live in that town. Need winter to end. Am a word Nazi. Cook and garden. Communicate exclusively in sentence fragments.
  2. 1970s bikes were pretty cool.

Vibration as bad as they say? I came really close to buying one about ten years ago.

  3. Yup! Routine tightening of stuff was the lifestyle. Once my headlight fell off at night on the freeway. I luckily found all the parts and was able to reassemble. We were tougher then: No helmet or protective gear, no turn signals, one mirror about 3 inches in diameter that vibrated so much you could only tell there was a car back there someplace, but not much else.
