okay, so i'm buying a tank bag this week because it's getting nice out and i dont want to scratch up my tail again by strapping my dufflebag to it now that it's been repainted.

I would like something that is magnetic mounted. I'd like it to be expandable. I'd like it to have a map window and a fancy little pocket for my ipod. I dont want it to be too flashy. I'd like to stay somewhere close to $100

Who has them? What model do you have? Do you like it? Do you wish you had purchased a different one instead? Which one do you recommend?

I like the looks of the icon Urban tank bag, but it looks kinda flimsy...

Bikemaster's looks pretty solid...

Such an easy question because I have the only answer...for tank bags - go Marsee. Absolute great quality and high end products, great stitching, and tons of options in sizes in both straps and magnetic versions.

If you want to see them in person, Beaudrys keeps an alright selection in stock. Or check out their website: www.marseeproducts.com
Marsee is a new brand to me. are there any online retailers you know that sell these for cheaper? I'm trying to stay closer to the $100 mark

I had a bag like that when i went to San Fran and back, it sucked ass.
They keep you from tucking in, 2000 miles of wind on the head makes for pain in the neck. If i do it again, ill be wearing a back pack (plus no bag will attach to tank anyways)

hmmm, lame. i dont like wearing a heavy backpack on the bike. It puts too much stress on my arms.

I like the Rigg bags, they come with a slip-over waterproof cover, and have a ton of room.... I went with a clip on bag though, because my Icon bag wound up scratching my tank no matter how clean I kept it.

And they are pretty big, you cant really tuck as Vtwin pointed out. I had a hard time getting behind the windscreen when I went to Coos bay this last weekend.

I suggest getting a small, medium and a large one...

The small and medium are magnetic...the medium is so strong that I could pull my 954 off of the sidestand if i didnt pay attention to it. The large had to be strapped down...but it had a rubber base on it so it didnt scratch my tank...

Nelson-Riggs made them all...

I like my Givi Arrowbag. doesn't have the ipod slot but everything else you mention. what's great is if you are only carrying a little you can zip it down to compact so it stays out of your way easier but you can expand it to carry a ton of shit (I have yet to find its limits and I've bought groceries and stuck them all in it).

Check e-bay Joe rocket has a couple of nice tank bags, they have a real nice small one that hold a cell phone and a 9mm just right.
I have this one - bought it at SportbikeWest. Love it because it has an iPod window.... adn well - since I just won the 30GB iPod Video in a raffle (yes - by chance - I had no ability to bribe the judges this time) the window is perfect and I love it. it's little enough that I can fit everything I need and not cram my pockets with crap, but it still fits quite a bit - camera, ipod, wallet, gloves, i've had a couple of shirts in there before, OH! and if you position the zippers in just the right way... you can finally go to Starbucks and not have to hold your coffee in the back of your pants - sucks when you get a frappuccino and it starts dripping down your... yeah... um, anyway - makes for a good cup holder around town.

I don't like coffee products...normally!!! 8)

BTW, I have some sport saddle bags from Fieldsheer for my ZRX, have not tried them on the Firebolt XB12R yet.
