I have had a few problems with mine; the quick change face shield ejectors broke off also the trim around the bottom came lose.
Its new helmet time and I’m not convinced Arai lives up to their reputation for quality.

i love my arai i must of got the good one my visor snap in and out no problem wifes arai the same. happy with the helmet!:mrgreen:got prompt service from arai when i broke a vent.+1

So you already have an arai. I would at least contact them and see what they do. I have heard that they are really good about sending out replacement parts, most of the time at absolutely no cost (they do have a 5 year warranty). Not to many companies will do that kind of stuff.

I say that it's more of a personal choice. You have one already, so do you like it? Do you think that it was worth the extra money over the other brands? (kind of hard to tell if you've never owned an inexpensive helmet from another company) I say give them a call before you make your final judgment about their product. If you are really not feeling spending the extra money, then Scorpion is the way to go.

Arai helmets seem to fit my head better than any other brand. Shoei seems livable (but their cost is too close to Arai), and Scorpion is definitely the best deal for the money, but the Arais fit me better, have better ventilation, a five year warranty, a fully removable and washable liner and quick change shields which require no tools and no removal of anything other than the shield. To me all that is worth the price.

For the guy with the problems with the lens, just do it a couple times and read the instructions. It took me a little while to get used to the new system as it is a little different on my Profile than it was when I had a Signet. I like the new system better though, as you don't even need anything to do it.

Don't replace it.

Get on their website, register the helmet, and submit a service ticket.

I got my replacement side plate and new base plates for free. :mfclap:

All I will say is I hit the ground at over 100mph, hit my head and I was knocked unconcious.(on the track) I Sustained a minor concussion, all while I was wearing an Arai. Don't think I would want to try that in a cheapie helmet. Glad I had it, and I will only replace it with an arai.

My vote is whatever fits your head. Strictly speaking, all helmets have to pass a minimum set of tests and I've not heard that any particular reputable brand significantly outperforms or exceeds either the tests or other brands. Arais come in different shapes, so I'm sure that pushes up the manufacturing costs.

Full disclosure: I have an Arai Signet-GT, it has always fit well. The only real gripe I have is that changing the visor always makes me feel like I'm going to break something (sometimes the side cover panel pops off, but it always pops back into place). Also, there are times I wish it had better ventilation.

My Arai is about five years old and it is showing its age (loose chin deflector, frayed chin strap, cheek pad occasionally pops out of place). I have been looking at new helmets -- I like the Scorpion EXO-1000 and the HJC Symax II modular helmet. I've heard good things about both, but neither seems to fit as well as the Arai.

I voted yes but really it comes down to fit. You really can't go wrong with a lot of the helmets these days, but I love Shoei and Arai. Both make an awesome helmet and both have good warranties.

Speedmaster definitely contact Arai...they will take care of you. I know for the rubber molding you will have to send it in but it will not cost you anything.

Ive had a Arai and loved it, I think its a great helmet. I almost bought another when I saw The SCORPIAN EXO 1000 , It has some nice features like flip down shades like sun glasses , fog-less visor and a pump that you can push a button and manually fill the cheek area with air for a better fit, the best vents that I've ever had and the most quiet. No head shake this helmet is very aerodynamic too, also everything is removable inside for cleaning. I Think the quality is very close to the Arai and at half the cost. I got mine in flat black for 280 but they retail for 329. I highly recommend trying one and see how it fits, I must say though they run small so try one size bigger than you normally wear . Its a composite to I beleive and pretty light, That being said This is coming from a loyal Arai customer but thought i'd give Scorpion a try and im very happy with my Decision and thought i'd share my experience. I think they have a 5 year warranty to and the visor is super easy to change.

I have aria helmet about a year now. changes the shield all the time..nothing is broken yet..I think they are great helmet..comfort and takes impact quite well. Even though I paid over $600 for it well worth every penny.

I have crashed at 100 mph in T2 wearing a correct sized Icon helmet. I got up and walked away.

Bought the same helmet but one size larger, for comfort. Right? Crashed at less than 30 mph in the same turn (lots of braking before running off track). Got knocked the f*ck out for over 20 minutes.

Crashed in T3 wearing a correct fitting Scorpion helmet. Again got up and walked away.

I also have an Arai that I have used on the street for a few years now. I am sure it will handle exactly the same as the Icon and the Scorpion. What do you people think? If you spend and extra $400 on a helmet it will some how bounce off the pavement better?

A correct fitting helmet is worth the money. The name on the helmet is not.

I don't believe the hype. After all they are all DOT and Snell approved. Jesus. This is not vodoo science people. It's not even rocket science. We are talking about plastic, styrofoam and padding. It's the graphics that count, lol.

From now on I will buy Scorpion helmets and save money.

While your stories sound like it was all the fit that did it, it might be more to it than that.

As you might know your relative speed of your noggin hitting the ground has very little to do with your speed before impact.

If you low side at 100mph, you hit your head no harder than merely dropping over sideways. Its one of those things that we get all out of proportion unless you think carefully about it.

And actually, the cheapest DOT rated full face is the safest helmet you can buy. Bu the truth is that any street legal helmet is going to do that job. Buy what fits best and makes you feel good.

I love my Arai, and at this point I am hooked on premium helmets. But my next will be either a Suomy or perhaps a Shark.

Have you contacted Arai? Most quality helmet manufactures will replace these things for nothing or next to nothing!
Arai is very good about replacing parts + it is very easy to replace the visors. all I did was watch the dvd that comes with any Arai, it gives you stepbystep how-to on the whole helment. I have owend two Arai helmets with out a problem other then the first one shartering when it stopped me head from hitting the ground, but I think thats what its for?? thay have been great

I haven't yet found another helmet I've liked as much as the Arai I have now, due to fit, venting, but especially the lightness. I have residual problems from a whiplash neck injury and the difference in comfort via lighter weight between my current helmet and the old Shoei RF-600 it replaced is totally worth it. That, and the fact the RF-900 I tried to order when I bought the Z kept being on backorder for weeks upon weeks, so the dealer (Hillsboro Motosport) offered me the Arai for the same price ($350). Too good of a deal to pass up, sure glad that other one was out of stock!

I've owned suomy, arai, and shoei and the arai face sheild system is flawed. They are very comfortable and have great ventilation. Suomy is by far the best value..Arai is nice but they are overpriced for what you are getting.

As luck would have it I have a friend that worked for Arai and then moved to another helmet manufacture so I got the whole sad brake down…..what and why you pay so much for top of the line helmets. No doubt Arai is as well made a helmet as you can buy(I've got a few of my own) and as every one is already talking about fitment far surpasses price or brand loyalty. But don’t be fooled you don’t get all those beautiful paint jobs , graphics and lots of signature lids on the heads of superbike and moto gp riders for free. It all cost money and in the end the costumer pays for it.
