well anything I put here, after a thread title like ^^ that ^^ will only be a letdown, but i'll do my best.
(Little background)
Maybe I have sensitive ears, idk what, but I have noticed that the wind noise at speed (40mph+) when riding, whether in an Arai, Shoei, or Scorpion (all new) is hurting my ears, to the point where my ears are ringing when I finish riding. Simple ear plugs weren't an option, b/c I simply can't ride w/o my tunes...

So. I needed a good pair of noise-canceling earbuds. Where to go?
Started at the Apple store. Found some by Audio Technica, they worked well. But they gave feedback and chirping (at dangerous noise levels) when cell phones were in use (call or txt), and i mean ANY cell phone. But they did a decent job of reducing wind noise, although the noise-canceling "white noise" did start to, idk, bother my ears.
So i returned 'em, got the Bose ones.....Nothing special, def. not worth the money. Returned 'em.

Yesterday, on my lunch break, I swung by the Bridgeport Apple store, just to check stuff out....
Well I've always heard about Shure products, spoken about in a revered tone, and upon seeing THESE earbuds, I figured "wtf, I'll give 'em a shot."

WOW. All I can say is WOW. again and again. I literally find myself laughing when I'm riding b/c I can't hear ANY wind while songs change, or when a soft piano track comes on. It is seriously ridiculous how good these earbuds are.
And the best part?? They AREN'T noise-cancelling, they're noise-isolating! That = no batteries to charge 'em, no "white noise," no interference from radio frequencies, and NO wind noise. NONE!
What I LOVE about them is how they have such an extended sleeve that goes way the hell into your ear canal, as opposed to other brands with just big, lazy "mushroom" shaped rubber ends that barely get into your ear to block noise. And they do NOT affect getting into/out of a snug helmet, they are super low-profile and only the wire protrudes from your ear! They are literally buried in there!

...The only "cons" about these are, of course, the price (but well worth their weight in gold, trust me), and how you have to carefully push them into your ear canal pretty deep, so it's not an uncomfortable fit.
But my thinking is, preventing hearing loss is priceless, and once they're in your ears, it feels like heaven. seriously

For the Nancypants out there, YES i can still hear car horns just fine

In summation, I fucking love these earbuds. Defense rests. 8)

for that price they better do more than transfer music.

I can definitely appreciate good sounding earphones, but I'm just afraid I'd get them damaged under my helmet. For riding I've been sticking to the cheapies and replacing them every time they break.

I'm impressed. Not only by the earbuds but the fact that you'd drop that much on them. Though as you say, preventing hearing loss is priceless.

You really tempt me to buy those, but I don't listen to music on my bike much. Maybe if I buy a new iPod in the near future and if you'll let me try those out once, I might drop the cash on a pair.

For that price you can get earbuds that are custom molded for your ear canal. Thanks for the review though!
Basically, what it boils down to is my opinion of a certain product, and I think I appreciate the noise-isolating quality of these buds better than most because, as previously noted, I seem to have hyper-sensitive ears or something, as previous noise-canceling/isolating buds still left me with my ears ringing after 30+ mins of riding.
So, if wind noise is not a prob. for you, then yeah these prob. aren't the buds for you, meaning the benefit YOU derive from them is prob. less than what I get outta them...
But if you have serious problems with your hearing from wind noise, and/or are really serious about preventing hearing loss/damage, then I thought it prudent to give my impression on a quality product, as I think of myself as something of a guinea pig for earbuds, seeing as I've bought/used/returned like 5 different types of high-end ones before settling on these.

The cheapo-ones, no doubt, work great for most, but it's that steady wind howl/whooshing that just wreaks havoc on my ears....it just became impossible to deny that i was doing serious damage to my ears with only using iPod earbuds or ones similar to the Target buds..

$250? Dang.....I use a $15 pair of Koss Plugs that work good (almost too good) at canceling outside noise and provide good tunes. You just scrunch the foam with your fingers like an ear plug and put them in...

hey Mike..

when I got my $99 Bose earphone people called me crazy. Now I know you pay $250 for it. Danm...I don't know what are they going to call you. Anyway, I will give a shot when i get the Goverment check. LOL!

Wow.

So many people bagging on how much they cost.

They mold to your ear.

They're better than "custom fit" earphones.

Everyone who's bitching about the price had better fucking own a HJC helmet and not something pretty like a Shoei, Arai, or even a Scorpion.

Cause you can buy a cheap ass HJC and still be fine you know.

Don't get me wrong - I'm just a little gun shy about spending that kind of money on something I know will see a lot of abuse. My co-worker turned me on to the Etymotic Research ones which I'm planning on getting just for wearing on planes and walking around town. I'm curious to hear from others if they have luck wearing their expensive ones for any length of time without them being damaged. I guess I don't want to experiment with my own money :tard:

For example I used some cheap Sony's on my trip to S.F. last year, and by the end of the trip only one ear was working. I just threw them away and wasn't out 200 bucks.

I can vouch for Shure earbuds. I have the Se 210 and they're great! My bf has the E2c which is alot cheaper, and I don't notice much of a difference.

Here's a link to Amazon's list of them : http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_ss_1?ie=UTF8&search-alias=electronics&field-keywords=shure earphones

I used to use them on an extremely noisy train (BART) in San Francisco and I gotta tell you I didn't hear much other than my music and didn't have to turn it up to drown out the screeching of the train and people talking. My ears are small, though so mine don't fit as well in the helmet as the earbuds stick out a little. The E2cs that are listed as item # 1 or #4 on the Amazon site tuck better in the ear. They have different cushions for different sized ears, too.

I have a similar pair to the OP, and have worn them for 8-12 hours at a time. The Shure earphones also come with 3 different types of "buds" to help fit your ear.

My g/f has also worn them to watch a movie on her laptop during the drive from Portland to Seattle. I had the radio on the entire time, even tried talking to her...couldn't hear me for shit...

Anyhow, I think Dizzle has/d a pair as well...you can check in with him for further review. I love them, they work great, and for the price, the sound frequencies and clarity they put out are incredible.

I dont like the wind noise either so I use regular earplugs... but I have never tried earbuds or anything that has music... I see quite a few of you have these or similar... I will have to try them out sometime!
