well anything I put here, after a thread title like ^^ that ^^ will only be a letdown, but i'll do my best.
(Little background)
Maybe I have sensitive ears, idk what, but I have noticed that the wind noise at speed (40mph+) when riding, whether in an Arai, Shoei, or Scorpion (all new) is hurting my ears, to the point where my ears are ringing when I finish riding. Simple ear plugs weren't an option, b/c I simply can't ride w/o my tunes...
So. I needed a good pair of noise-canceling earbuds. Where to go?
Started at the Apple store. Found some by Audio Technica, they worked well. But they gave feedback and chirping (at dangerous noise levels) when cell phones were in use (call or txt), and i mean ANY cell phone. But they did a decent job of reducing wind noise, although the noise-canceling "white noise" did start to, idk, bother my ears.
So i returned 'em, got the Bose ones.....Nothing special, def. not worth the money. Returned 'em.
Yesterday, on my lunch break, I swung by the Bridgeport Apple store, just to check stuff out....
Well I've always heard about Shure products, spoken about in a revered tone, and upon seeing THESE earbuds, I figured "wtf, I'll give 'em a shot."
WOW. All I can say is WOW. again and again. I literally find myself laughing when I'm riding b/c I can't hear ANY wind while songs change, or when a soft piano track comes on. It is seriously ridiculous how good these earbuds are.
And the best part?? They AREN'T noise-cancelling, they're noise-isolating! That = no batteries to charge 'em, no "white noise," no interference from radio frequencies, and NO wind noise. NONE!
What I LOVE about them is how they have such an extended sleeve that goes way the hell into your ear canal, as opposed to other brands with just big, lazy "mushroom" shaped rubber ends that barely get into your ear to block noise. And they do NOT affect getting into/out of a snug helmet, they are super low-profile and only the wire protrudes from your ear! They are literally buried in there!
...The only "cons" about these are, of course, the price (but well worth their weight in gold, trust me), and how you have to carefully push them into your ear canal pretty deep, so it's not an uncomfortable fit.
But my thinking is, preventing hearing loss is priceless, and once they're in your ears, it feels like heaven. seriously
For the Nancypants out there, YES i can still hear car horns just fine
In summation, I fucking love these earbuds. Defense rests. 8)
